A $200 small, compact, and light weight laptop with an 11.6 inch screen. Is it worth your money?
Asus has recently introduced the all new cheap X205TA. It is an 11.6 inch screen with 16:9 ratio screen. It has an HD screen with a resolution of 1366x768 which is common on low end devices. Bundled with this device is the Intel Atom Platform which performs surprisingly well. To be more specific it uses the Intel® Bay Trail-T Quad Core Z3735 Processor clocked at 1.33 GHz. Its not a gaming machine but simply a working machine.
It comes with 2 GB DDR3L RAM (the bare minimum for windows to work well) with 1333 MHz SDRAM. It also comes with Integrated Intel® HD Graphics and sadly only 32GB eMMC which is quite small but ASUS did integrate SD card option of Micro SD, Micro SDXC, and Micro SDHC. It also has VGA Web Camera and Built-in Bluetooth™ V4.0.
This device has an average amount of ports with 1 Microphone-in/Headphone-out jack, 2 USB 2.0 ports, and 1 micro HDMI port. not the best options to integrate but it is alright given its price. It also comes with Built-in SonicMaster Speakers And Microphone.
What's most impressive about this device, (excluding the price) is the 33 Watt Hour battery which according to asus lasts 12 hours. 12 HOURS? for a $200 laptop? yup this is correct but as i stated this is not a gaming machine but rather a working machine. Its dimensions are as follows, 286 x 193.3 x 17.5 mm (WxDxH). It also weights 0.98 kg or just above 2 pounds. Extremely Light.
Check out a video review of this laptop bellow thanks to Lon Seidman and check the video bellow that for a few differences between the retail version and in development version as reviewed by a couple of people previously. Thanks to Him as well for that video.
