You may be able to install this program from the Ubuntu software center or your own Linux OS's designated software center but if your like me and enjoy using the terminal, this guide is for you. This should work with any Ubuntu/Debian based OS including the likes of Linux Mint, Pear OS, Zorin OS, Ubuntu, etc.
Open up the terminal by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T. type the following line one by one. When prompted hit enter/y.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp-edge
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimp
That's It, You have gimp installed. If you would like to open it directly through the terminal, simply type "gimp" and it should open.
